Are ‘Aruco 72’ markers sufficient for ‘taco delivery’ if my drone’s altitude will be less than 4 metres (~13 feet), or are ‘Aruco 129’ markers essential? I’m assuming that the former larger markers simply increase the chances of being detected/tracked?
I ask because I am limited for how much time I can permit for the entire course …
Short answer: You can use either. For that altitude just set the size as used in the videos.
Long answer: You can use any of the Aruco markers listed in the course, or create one. The Aruco types or textures are not differentiated by size, just pattern.
Aruco marker detection is determined by various factors including:
Type of camera
Camera intrinsics such as resolution
Camera calibration
Field of View (FOV)
Size of Aruco
Aruco pattern complexity
Drone height above the Aruco
Drone x/y deviation
Weather
At high altitudes it might be best to use larger sizes or/and a camera with greater resolution.
This is why a dual Aruco setup with two Aruco sizes might be optimal. Try it out in sim first, then fly for real.
