I built the drone and got it working. I tried to fly it, and it was totally unstable - it crashed every time. All I want to do is to test a simple up 10 feet and slow down 10 feet - without using pitch and yaw - just throttle up and down - but it veers off to one side and crashes every time. Do I need to recalibrate the ESC’s?
this broke a propeller and a leg. Now I need to find a spare leg somewhere.
Alternatively, if you have a 3D printer, search on Thingiverse for dji F450 flame and you will find multiple options. You don’t need to use the same type of legs that were broken. There is a short version that connects to the arms.
Btw, breaking parts is common. You might even buy a spare F450.
I am assuming you have a Pixhawk. There were a few issues with the early Emlid model
There are multiple possible reasons why the vehicle is unstable. Here are the most common in order of likelihood -
1 Incorrect prop placement
2 Incorrect prop rotation
3 ESCs not properly calibrated
4 Improper PIDs, ie, poor tuning - the initial PID configuration should be ok to use Autotune
5 Poor weight distribution
6 Unbalanced prop

Finally, you can check the flight log and post the graphs here so we might get more insight.
