I have a Raspberry Pi 3 I want to use for my programming environment. It’s a 1gb ram and runs Debian fine. Has anyone tried using a Pi as their course environment?

Just in case this was interesting or someone else wants to try:
16.04 desktop does not exist for arm64 computers.
18.04 and 20.04 MATE offers a desktop GUI and works well.
I did successfully install 16.04 CORE onto the RPi. But this is a long way from providing a GUI as it is meant for cards and hardware like firmware.
There are 16.04, 18.04, 20.04 arm64 server images are out there. Did not try this, but after it is loaded, you can add a DUI like xfce and maybe it would become a course environment.
I gave up before trying this and am using a PC and Virtual Box.
