No map or console when sim_vehicle.py is launched

In lecture SITL Drone Introduction (Simulated Computer Drone) — When I attempt to launch sim_vehicle.py --map – console. I see a screen that says…

Using Irlock at port : 9005
bind port 5760 for 0
Serial port 0 TCP port 5760
Waiting for connection

But no map or console appears.
I’m using 18.04 and did not upgrade pip. Mavproxy version is 1.18.17
